Glühwein means Glow wine in German and is a super drink to warm the soul in winter and a great variation to wine at parties, weddings, and even when camping. Also known as, spiced wine this delicious drink consists of wine and spices heated to just below boiling point and then served. When I lived in Switzerland Glühwein was easy to make by simply adding the Glühwein Mix to the pan.
While visiting a friend in Spain many moons ago, she made Sangria for a dinner party she threw for us while there. It was so good that I got the recipe off her. Normally when someone mentions Hot Toddy, the warm sensation of hot milk gliding down my throat comes to mind. As one grows older, the idea is not that appealing and the Hot Toddy is removed from the evening’s menu. So I have started to try it with numerous different bases.

It’s quick, it’s easy and all you need is herbs, oil and an imagination! They're great for almost any kind of food from salads through to using them in cooking to to add that extra little bit of fusion. They also add that extra bit of colour to your kitchen, and the longer you leave them the better they taste. Last Christmas instead of buying gifts I decided to make everyone I knew a bottle of infused oil, saving me a pretty penny and actually giving people something they will definitely use.
We always have lots of extra herbs in our herb garden. As a result I did some experimenting and research on how best to preserve the herbs lovingly grown and have found the following. Let me know if this works for you.
First you have to harvest, it is recommended that this is done on a calm day make sure that there is not water drops (best to do it just after the water has dried up) on the plants the herbs produce more oils on warmer days. The best time for this is mid summer although I find just before mid day in winter does the trick.
